Study tour of Health officials from Afghanistan to share experiences on addressing GBV in the Health Sector.
A team of Health officials from Afghanistan visited to the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs on 18th January 2018, while a four- day study tour in Sri Lanka. The purpose of their official visit was to discuss and share the experiences and best practices on addressing GBV in the Health Sector.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, officials from the UN and the World Bank were also participated at the discussion. The discussion was focused on the experiences of addressing Gender Based Violence in both Countries. The demonstration was presented by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and it was stated that how the Sri Lankan government with the partnership of state agencies as well as INGOs/ NGOs and CSOs would commit to address and respond the issue within the framework of Government Policy. Further, the measures that have taken by the Ministry to address GBV in Sri Lanka were also discussed.
