“Children who win tomorrow “Awareness Raising Programme

The Prime responsibility of raising Sri Lanka to the state of a shining island in the world minimizing issues in the field of Human Resource is a challenge of the present day younger generation. However, they have found it increasingly problematic to enter the society as good citizens with robust/dynamic personality because of issues such as family disputes, addiction to drugs, physical and mental violence against children, child abuse and negligence that have entwined with their life style which has become more and more complicated with the advancement of modern science and technology. Making an effort at Ministry level to prevent this situation, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and Dry Zone Development has launched a series of awareness raising programmes at district level on moulding a successful citizen through restraint of emotions for school children and parents. As the second step of this programme, measures have been taken to conduct an awareness raising programme on January 22, 2019 from 9 am to 12 pm in the Auditotrium of the Hanwella Rajasingha Madya Maha vidyalaya for 800 students from five schools, in Hanwella Divisional Secretary’s Divison in the Colombo District (Rajasingha Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Pahathgama Roman Catholic Convent, Thunnana Siri Sumanajothi Maha Vidyalaya, Mayadunna Maha Vidyalaya and st. John Bosco’s College) and 100 of their parents under the patronage of the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and Dry Zone Development.

The resource person will be Dr. Chaminda Weerasiriwardene, Senior Counseller and Psychotherapist of Kandy Genaral Hospital.
